Baylor football had a tough time with Duke on Saturday, losing to the Blue Devils and falling to 0-3 on the young season. Time to overreact.

After yet another loss to begin the 2017 season, Baylor football is sitting at 0-3 with conference play looming. Duke took care of the Bears in Week 3 and things aren’t looking so hot for the Waco-based program.

The season is still young, so an 0-3 start isn’t exactly “the end” of bowl game hopes, but it’s not looking good for Matt Rhule and Co. Heck, people are overreacting to the absolute max.

Here are the five biggest overreactions from Baylor fans, and from around the nation, following the Bears’ Week 3 loss to Duke.

5. The run game is absolutely hopeless

Through three games, the Bears’ rushing attack has been just about as bad as there is in the nation, right? Wrong. There is talent in the backfield, it’s just not producing yet because of its youth.

The Bears are averaging 149.3 yards per game on the ground, which isn’t all that bad seeing as the top rusher, freshman John Lovett, is averaging 4.4 yards per carry with 182 total and two scores.

The second-leading rusher? Oh, it’s just Anu Solomon, the current backup quarterback. He has 106 yards and is averaging 6.6 per carry. Maybe he should be the team’s new starting running back?

Outside of those two, the Bears have no one over 60 rushing yards and it showed in the Week 3 loss to Duke. Freshman Dre Dixon and Lovett each had nine carries, but combined for just 49 yards, which is a poor game, but the Bears were also playing from behind the whole time.

Baylor doesn’t have a run game because it’s not a crucial part of the offense when playing from behind each week. It’s not hopeless, but the coaching staff needs to mix things up.
