Post-Week 3 College Football Playoff Projections
2. Clemson Tigers
In a season that looked like the Clemson Tigers would need a year or two to rebuild, they’ve proven everybody wrong. The Tigers seem prime for another national title run after their impressive 47-21 victory over the 14th-ranked Louisville Cardinals in Week 3.
The Clemson defense let quarterback Lamar Jackson do his thing through the air, allowing 317 passing yards and three passing touchdowns, but on the ground it was a different story. They held Jackson to just 64 net rushing yards and no rushing touchdowns. They also forced him to throw his first interception of the season.
Linebacker Dorian O’Daniel took a 44-yard interception to the house to score a defensive touchdown for Clemson. O’Daniel also finished with six tackles.
Quarterback Kelly Bryant was brilliant once again for the offense. He was 22-of-32 with 316 passing yards and a touchdown through the air. On the ground, he ran for two more touchdowns.
Wide receiver Ray-Ray McCloud emerged as another deep-threat as he finished with seven receptions for 115 receiving yards and a touchdown.
The offense put up over 600 yards of offense while holding another powerful offense well-below it’s usual average. The Cardinals were 5-of-16 on third down conversions due to the pressure of the defensive line.
If the defense keeps this up, they could have the number one spot in no time.
