Ohio State football rebounded from a tough loss to Oklahoma in Week 2 with a nice win over Army. Let’s overreact accordingly.

After a tough loss to Oklahoma in Columbus during a Week 3 bout, Ohio State football rebounded with a convincing victory over Army on Saturday, 38-7. The Buckeyes took a 17-7 lead into the half and then blanked the Black Knights in the final 30 minutes to improve to 2-1.

While the season is still fairly young, the Buckeyes have some concerns heading into Week 3, but also gained some confidence in waning areas against Army. Fans were quick to overreact, like always, to the Buckeyes’ performance.

Here are the five biggest overreactions from Ohio State fans, and from around the nation, following the Buckeyes’ Week 3 win over Army.

5. Run defense more concerning than expected

After surrendering 259 rushing yards to Army, Buckeye fans became frustrated with the sight of the Black Knights having success on the ground. Ohio State was supposed too have one of the best front-sevens in all of college football, but the Black Knights put up big numbers on the ground.

What was the reason behind this? Is there a reason for the Buckeyes to be concerned? The easy, and somewhat obvious, answer to both of those questions are the fact that Army has one of the best rushing attacks in college football and there’s no reason for concern.

In fact, the Black Knights finished the 2016 season as the second-best rushing team in college football, averaging 339.5 yards per game on the ground. That’s almost unheard of. They also proved that they’re a non-passing team, averaging just 74 yards per game through the air.

For fans who believed that Army’s 259 yards and 4.5 yards per carry were concerning: relax. This defense is still strong up front and Army is just known for running the ball nine times out of 10. In fact, the Black Knights ran the ball 58 times to just eight attempted passes.
