2. JK Dobbins is officially better than Mike Weber

After three games, this much is clear: the running back situation has been muddied. JK Dobbins took over for Mike Weber in the season opener against Indiana because of a minor injury to the presumed starter.

Now, following a big win over Army, there are people saying that Dobbins is officially a better back than Weber. That’s just not a fair argument right now. This season? Yes, Dobbins has been much better and that’s likely because Weber hasn’t gotten a chance to prove himself much.

Everyone seems to forget that Weber was the Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 2016 after putting up over 1,000 yards on the ground. So because Dobbins has had a few good games, Weber is chopped liver? That’s not the case.

Weber is an All-Big Ten caliber back who just so happens to be falling victim to the “ride the hot hand” treatment by the Ohio State coaching staff. Dobbins is the hot hand right now and Weber only has seven carries for 42 yards this season to show for it. Both backs are impressive, but one is red-hot right now.
