Georgia followed up their win at Notre Dame with a solid win over the Samford Bulldogs. Nick Chubb had a night, as he rushed for 131 yards and two touchdowns. Seeing Nick Chubb back at it is great to see as a football fan, but not great for opposing teams. The Georgia backfield is scary, although Sony Michel was held out with an ankle injury in this game. Despite the loss of Michel, the offense had no problems here.

Jake Fromm added three touchdowns through the air in the game. Fromm continues to show talent, but he’ll be tested next week when Mississippi State rolls into Athens. The offense has looked good for the most part to start 2017. The Georgia defense continues to impress as well and I’ll be excited to see how they defend Nick Fitzgerald next week. They’ll need to step up in that game with the young quarterback facing the best defense he’s faced so far in his career next week.

Another Saturday, another Alabama victory. Although, despite the victory, the Crimson Tide was shown to have some defensive problems. The Colorado State offense is very good, I’ll start with that. But Alabama doesn’t give up almost 400 yards of offense. Especially to a Mountain West team. Granted, CSU might win their conference, but something is off in that Alabama defense.

Jalen Hurts at quarterback for Alabama was brilliant and showed signs of improvement in the passing game. As alluded to, the Crimson Tide defense was off. Linebacker injuries might be showing up as a problem. Colorado State was 10-17 on third down conversions in this game. And while the score wasn’t exactly close, Colorado State had a few long sustained and successful drives. All I know is Nick Saban is undoubtedly not happy.

Alabama will have to do something to get the defense fixed as they travel to Nashville this weekend for an SEC matchup against a hot Vanderbilt team.
