Kickers need love too! Kicker Joey Slye had a rough week against Delaware, as he went 2-of-4 on field goal attempts, getting one attempt blocked in the game.

In Week 3, Slye had a much better outing as he went 3-of-3 on field goals. He made field goals from 25, 34 and 37 yards in the game while also setting a new career record for field goals made (69).

He passed kicker Shayne Graham’s career mark of 68 after his field goal make with 43 seconds left in the second quarter.

Slye also had a leg on kickoffs, too. He’s got 24 of kickoffs on the season and 22 of them have been downed for a touchback.

With a 91.7 percent touchback percentage, Virginia Tech ranks second in the FBS in that category.

Slye has already set a new career-high field goal distance with a 50-yard make against Delaware. Now, he leads the Hokies’ in career field goal makes. Let’s see what else he has in store for this season after earning this helmet sticker.
