There’s some parity among the Big 12 football programs this year and we’ll see one of the top three teams in the conference get their first loss this week.
The Big 12 had an extremely impressive showing in Week 3 of the 2017 college football season. Really the only letdown was the Kansas State Wildcats losing to the Vanderbilt Commodores on the road. Kansas State is now unranked because of that loss.
After the No. 3 Oklahoma Sooners defeated the Ohio State Buckeyes in Week 2, the Big 12 needed a big followup for a lot of the programs at the top of the conference. Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas, West Virginia, TCU, Texas Tech, and Kansas State were all in action over the weekend.
One of the biggest wins of the weekend for any team in the conference was Oklahoma State’s win over the Pittsburgh Panthers, 59-21. The Oklahoma schools are proving that the conference championship is likely to come down to Bedlam, once again. However, there is still a long way to go in league play this year.
Big 12 play officially starts this week as seven of the 10 teams are in action this weekend. Six of those teams face in other in three league games. West Virginia takes on the Kansas Jayhawks. Oklahoma State hosts TCU. And, Oklahoma travels to Waco to take on the Baylor Bears.
This week, we move one step closer to the beginning of the return of the Big 12 Championship Game that takes place in December. Big 12 action will get moving in full swing in Week 5, but we do get a taste in Week 4.
