Toledo played one of the wildest games of Week 3, emerging victorious in a non-conference shootout against Tulsa. The two teams piled up over 1,200 combined yards of offense and 58 first downs between them. It looked like the thriller would be headed to overtime, but the Rockets had other plans. Tulsa tied the game at 51-51 with less than three minutes remaining in regulation, but they left too much time on the clock for Logan Woodside and crew.

The Toledo offense drove down into field-goal range, setting up kicker Jameson Vest for a 33-yard game winner. Everything went to plan, the kick was true, and the Rockets survived their encounter with the Golden Hurricane to move to 3-0 on the season. Woodside finished the day with 458 yards and six passing touchdowns on 22-of-33 passing to pace the victory.

Now the Rockets face their biggest test of September. Toledo heads south to Florida to face the Miami Hurricanes in Week 4. The ACC Coastal contenders are currently No. 14 in the AP Top 25. Despite sitting the past two weeks due to Hurricane Irma and its aftermath, Miami actually climbed in the polls this week. Mark Richt‘s team presents a tough challenge, but one that could set up Toledo for a New Year’s Six bid with a win.
