1. Brandon Wimbush’s arm, first tough road test

Brandon Wimbush has looked solid through his first three games as Notre Dame’s quarterback. No, he’s not a plus passer, but he can tuck and run with the ball better than any quarterback in college football.

Is he one of the nation’s top dual-threats? After rushing for over 200 yards against Boston College, that seemed like the case, until you look at his passing numbers. To be an elite dual-threat, like Lamar Jackson, he needs to be able to sling the ball as well as he runs with it.

That hasn’t been the case through three weeks, though. In fact, he has completed just under 50 percent of his passes over the last two games for 307 yards, no touchdowns and an interception. Those two games have been against decent defenses, but Michigan State’s secondary looks much more improved than it was last season.

Could his arm be the biggest concern of all against Michigan State? Yes. However, that seems to be a first-place tie with the fact that he’s facing his first tough road test since taking over as the starter — Boston College is a mediocre team.
