Oklahoma State football blew the Pitt Panthers out of the water before starting Big 12 play this week against the TCU Horned Frogs.

The Oklahoma State Cowboys moved up to No. 6 in the AP Poll this week. Their 59-21 win over the Pittsburgh Panthers was one of the most thoroughly impressive victories of Week 3. Senior quarterback Mason Rudolph helped the Oklahoma State offense flex its muscles over an inferior ACC defense.

Pitt had a rough going for the last two weeks as they had to face two top 10 teams in Oklahoma State and the Penn State Nittany Lions. However, they do have some easier games over the next few weeks as they face the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Rice Owls, and Syracuse Orange.

This showing was mostly about how good this Oklahoma State offense can actually be. Anyone who did not realize that this might be the best offense in the country now knows differently. The defense could still be a concern, though.

Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi might have found himself a new starting quarterback after he benched former USC transfer Max Browne for Ben Dinucci. Not only did Dinucci give the Panthers a boost against Penn State, he also helped the offense along a bit against the Pokes.

The result from this meeting between Oklahoma State and Pitt was completely different from last year’s. In last season’s matchup, Pitt kept close with Oklahoma State the entire way to the tune of a 45-38 final score in the Pokes’ favor.

There’s a lot to takeaway from this matchup but mainly it was about two teams headed in different directions. Pitt was the only team to defeat the Clemson Tigers last year and one of the few to defeat Penn State. That will not happen again this year.

Now, let’s take a look at five overreactions from Oklahoma State’s win over Pitt.
