5. Bedlam will decide the Big 12 — again

With both Oklahoma schools ranked inside the top 6, it looks to be another Bedlam matchup that will determine the Big 12 Championship. However, with the return of the Big 12 Championship Game in December, the Sooners and Cowboys could play each other twice.

We’ll see how the Cowboys fare this week when they face the No. 16 ranked TCU Horned Frogs. This could be one of the best quarterback matchups of the year too when Mason Rudolph faces Baker Mayfield. Rudolph and Mayfield are two of the top Heisman contenders this season.

The problem with Oklahoma and Oklahoma State both being so good this year is that they could cannibalize themselves before the College Football Playoff field is determined. If they only played once then one of the two teams would likely be guaranteed to get a Playoff berth.

There’s one date that every Big 12 fan should circle on their calendar. It’s Nov. 4 when Bedlam continues in 2017 at Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater. It’s becoming clear who will compete in the Big 12 and who will not.
