Arkansas Football: 10 bold predictions for Hogs in SEC play
1. Devwah Whaley loses the starting job for good
The one area where Arkansas is always loses is running back. This year should be no different even after the unexpected preseason retirement of Rawleigh Williams III. Now, sophomore Devwah Whaley takes the reigns as the starting rusher.
However, Whaley has not played great through the first two games and could be in danger of losing his position. True freshman Chase Hayden is actually the team leader in rushing yards behind his 120-yard performance against Florida A&M.
Former transfer running back David Williams also has a chance to get the bulk of the carries. Williams is second on the team in rushing attempts behind Whaley. However, Williams is also a more versatile back.
There’s no doubting the talent that Whaley has. As a former four-star and highly touted recruit, he could find his way to becoming one of the better running backs in the conference. Chances are, he loses some of his roles to other running backs this year.
