Boise State Football: 3 bold predictions for Virginia game
By Zach Bigalke
Virginia visits Boise State for the first time in Cavaliers history. Here are three bold predictions for how their visit to Idaho will play out on Friday.
Boise State went to Charlottesville two years ago for the first-ever meeting between the Broncos and Virginia. The Broncos were coming off a trip to the Fiesta Bowl in 2014. Their trip to Virginia was supposed to be a springboard to another New Year’s Six appearance.
The Broncos blew out Virginia 56-14 in Charlottesville to make their statement over an ACC opponent. Brett Rypien threw for 321 yards and three scores, while Jeremy McNichols put up 69 rushing yards and a score on just nine carries. But Boise State failed to follow up their win over the Cavaliers with a Mountain West title, and instead it was Houston that went to the Peach Bowl.

Boise State is hoping to return to a major bowl game once again. After losing to Washington State in overtime two weeks ago, Virginia offers their last opportunity to claim a victory over a Power Five program this year. The Broncos are favored on their home turf by just under two touchdowns, and they will be hunting for another big victory after a quiet start to the 2017 season.
The non-conference showdown is the first of two games on Friday night. Boise State will hope to keep pace with the other Group of Five contenders and set themselves up for a confident run through the Mountain West. Here are three bold predictions for how things will play out between the Broncos and the Cavaliers on the Smurf Turf.
