Among all Power Five conferences, the Big 12 football action in Week 4 is not the most exciting. But TCU vs. Oklahoma State will be very entertaining.
There’s only seven Big 12 football teams in action this week. The one team from the conference that faces a non-conference opponent is the Texas Tech Red Raiders taking on the Houston Cougars. Both Texas Tech and Houston are undefeated.
Limiting the Big 12 games this week also limits the amount of teams that can be put on upset alert. However, it’s always fun to explore the ways that an underdog would be able to upset their opponent. Especially in the first weekend of conference play.
In Week 4, the No. 3 Oklahoma Sooners face the winless Baylor Bears. The No. 6 Oklahoma State Cowboys host the No. 16 TCU Horned Frogs at Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater, OK. And, the West Virginia Mountaineers travel to Lawrence, KS, to face the Kansas Jayhawks.
Last week, the Big 12 had another good showing, highlighted by huge victories for Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, and TCU. Oklahoma State dominated the Pittsburgh Panthers to the tune of a 59-21 win. Texas Tech defeated the Arizona State Sun Devils in a high-scoring contest just one year after they lost to the same opponent. TCU overcame a good SMU team.
Moving forward, the Big 12 needs to continue keeping their top teams undefeated, or with one-loss at the most. Yet, teams like the Texas Longhorns proving themselves on a national level against teams like the USC Trojans helps this conference out a lot.
Now, let’s take a look at 3 teams on upset alert in the Big 12 in Week 4 of the 2017 college football season.
