Louisville Football: 3 bold predictions vs. Kent State in Week 4
By Jesse Smith
3. Lamar Jackson will make Kent State pay
Against Clemson’s defense, 2016 Heisman quarterback Lamar Jackson had a decent game, but not a great game by his standards. Clemson did a great job pressuring the reigning Heisman winner getting him out of his comfort zone which isn’t easy to do.
Jackson had a final stat line of 21-of-42 passing for 317 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. He also added 64 yards on 17 rushes. If you only look at the stats you would be pleased with his performance, but if you saw the game you know Clemson did a heck of a job. The Tigers are the first team to keep him under 100 yards rushing this season and they held him to a 50 percent completion rate at home.
Kudos to Clemson, but sorry Kent State, you are going to have a mad Jackson, so I expect him to torch them for similar numbers, but with a higher completion percentage and no turnovers in a rout.
Nobody wants to see a mad Jackson. I feel bad for Kent State, but Jackson will have at least 500 total yards (passing and rushing) and five total touchdowns — book it.
The Cardinals fans will feel better Saturday evening and so will Jackson. Just make sure against the tougher competition that the offensive line does a better job at keeping the Heisman winner clean and maybe Louisville can still be a dark-horse.
