LSU Football: Derrius Guice out against Syracuse
By Jesse Smith
LSU football suffered an embarrassing loss at the hands of Mississippi State in Week 3. Now they’ll be without star running back Derrius Guice in Week 4.
It has been reported LSU star running back Derrius Guice will be out against Syracuse on Saturday. It has been disclosed he has a knee injury, but no timeline for a return has been set, so the outsiders don’t know the severity of it currently. If Guice misses a significant amount of time it would be a tough pill to swallow for Tigers fans.
Guice is the main piece to the Tigers offense, because of their limitations in the passing game many expect the junior to be in the running for the Heisman at the end of the year. He currently rushed for 300 yards and 4 touchdowns.
Senior running back Darrel Williams will get to carry the mail as the main workhorse for the Tigers on Saturday and for the immediate future if Guice is out for more than a game. Williams has played every year he has been in Baton Rouge so he won’t be blinded by the bright lights. He currently has rushed for 159 yards and 4 touchdowns at a clip of 5.7 yards per carry.
Coincidentally (or not), Guice posted and quickly deleted this picture on his Instagram account:

This isn’t news Ed Orgeron wanted to have to deal with, but we are here and now they will be without their star. Williams has to step up and carry the mail to help this team stay afloat. More information will undoubtedly be forthcoming. Perhaps this is just inconvenient timing. We will see.
