After three weeks of tearing up the competition, here are five reasons why Notre Dame football’s Josh Adams is college football’s best running back.

Josh Adams has been an underrated cog in Notre Dame’s offense over the last few years. Before bursting onto the scene in 2015, Adams was greatly respected in the state of Pennsylvania but failed to garner much national attention.

He entered the college football realm rated outside the top 15 by most recruiting experts and failed to make the top 150 overall players on multiple lists as well. Constantly being overlooked may have been what led to Adams’ explosion as many opponents weren’t quite sure what to expect.

Adams first made headlines after scoring two touchdowns on five carries in Notre Dame’s week one victory over Texas, but struggled in the following two games. He received his first significant workload in week four of 2015, recording 13 carries for 133 yards and a score.

Adams finally solidified himself as Notre Dame’s top rusher against Pittsburgh when he was awarded 20 carries. Fast forward to today and Adams is held as one of college football’s premier backs. Here are five reasons why he has solidified himself as the best.
