4. Texas A&M leads the nation in turnover margin per game

Through their first three contests the Aggies have committed just two turnovers. Uncharacteristically, Christian Kirk muffed a punt and freshman quarterback Kellen Mond through an interception. Both of those mistakes can be forgiven and neither seems to be indicative of a serious problem holding on to the football.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Aggies have proven themselves to be one of the most opportunistic and aggressive defenses in the nation. They have 10 takeaways on the young season giving them a +8 turnover margin. On a per game basis, the Aggies are averaging a +2.67 margin. Spotting any team nearly three free possession can be dangerous, especially with the arsenal of weapons on the Texas A&M offense.

Arkansas has forced just three turnovers so far this season. That includes a game against Kenny Hill, one of the most turnover prone quarterbacks in college football. He was intercepted by the Razorbacks once. If you can barely pick off Hill, you probably aren’t doing enough tip drills in practice.

Texas A&M is going to win the turnover battle in this game. For a team like Arkansas that historically likes to control the clock and manage the game through their offense, ceding opportunities can be a major problem. It’s hard to stay committed to the running game when you fall behind early and have to play catch up.
