UCLA football: 3 bold predictions for Pac-12 opener in Week 4 vs Stanford
By Zach Bigalke
1. Darren Andrews will have monster game against Cardinal defense
It is weird to say, but Stanford has a downright mediocre defense this season. The Cardinal are ranked 59th in scoring defense, conceding 23 points per game and in danger of seeing that number rise further. While the secondary has been better than the front seven to this point of the season, they are going to look worse on Saturday as Josh Rosen finds his favorite receivers all night long.
No receiver has been more prolific so far for UCLA this year than Darren Andrews. The redshirt senior is currently leading the nation with six touchdown catches. Andrews has averaged nearly nine receptions and 135 yards per game in his first three appearances of the year. He could be in for another big night against a Stanford secondary that looked average at best in its past two games.
Right now, Stanford’s defensive numbers are fortified by the season-opening win in Australia against Rice. As Pac-12 play continues for the Cardinal, those numbers will dip. And on Saturday night, Andrews is going to do his part to knock David Shaw’s team further down the FBS defensive rankings.
Look for the big-time receiver to haul in 10 or more catches for 150-plus yards. Andrews will finish the game with several touchdowns, including the game winner from Josh Rosen.
