What was supposed to be one of the most entertaining games of the weekend saw Georgia football blow out Mississippi State with relative ease.

The No. 11 Georgia Bulldogs made a statement on a day where multiple college football programs came up big when it was not expected. No. 17 Mississippi State is coming off a huge win over the LSU Tigers in Week 3 and should have kept things closer. Georgia finished with a 31-3 beatdown of Mississippi State.

Few expected UGA to do what they were able to do to Mississippi State this weekend. However, Georgia thoroughly dominated the contest the entire way, proving a point for second-year head coach Kirby Smart and the Dawgs.

Not only was this a statement for the Dawgs, it was also a huge gain for the SEC East altogether. The SEC West has long been regarded as the better division of the two in the conference and one of the best in the country. Wins like this prove the SEC East still has teams that can hang with the top of the SEC West.

There was no point during this matchup that was really close on the scoreboard. Georgia jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. Mississippi State did hold the Dawgs off the board in the second quarter, but they also put up their only three points of the game.

Georgia’s offense was both efficient and overpowering against Mississippi State. Senior running back Nick Chubb led the way with two touchdowns. D’Andre Swift and Sony Michel also received heavier workloads behind Chubb.

Now, let’s take a look at three takeaways from the Georgia win over Mississippi State in Week 4.
