In Week 4, Ohio State football closed out their non-conference schedule with a big victory over UNLV. Here’s what we learned from Urban Meyer’s squad.

After failing to impress against the Army in Week 3, and dropping in the AP Poll as a result, Urban Meyer’s Ohio State squad was out for blood in its Week 4 bout against the UNLV Rebels in front of the home crowd.

The Buckeyes fired on all cylinders against Tony Sanchez’s UNLV team, and amassed an impressive stat line to back it up.

On offense, the Buckeyes had seven players catch a touchdown pass, which now stands as a record for both Ohio State and the Big Ten.

And on defense, the team amassed four sacks and an insane 11 tackles for loss against a terrified Rebel offensive line.

Simply put, Ohio State was the better team, and played like it.

Even after losing to Oklahoma in Week 2, Ohio State is still firmly in the running to make a push for the College Football Playoff, but will need to maintain the momentum it built in Week 4 to transfer over to its Big Ten schedule, which begins next week in the team’s road trip to Piscataway, N.J., to face off against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights.

Now with virtually no margin for error, as a two-loss team has never made an appearance in the playoff, the Buckeyes will need to steamroll their Big Ten schedule, including games against Penn State, Michigan and Maryland, in order to return to the playoff.

Here are three things we learned in the Buckeyes’ Week 4 victory against UNLV.
