The Washington football program carries a No. 6 ranking in the AP Poll into their matchup with Colorado in their PAC-12 opener this weekend.

The Washington Huskies face their first test of the season this weekend in the Colorado Buffaloes. It’s also their first conference game of the season after having three weeks of non-conference opponents.

Both teams enter this matchup undefeated but neither has really faced a quality opponent yet. The only Power Five conference team that either squad has played against is Rutgers. Washington hit the road to play them in their season opener.

Colorado faced Colorado State, Texas State, and Northern Colorado in their first three weeks of the season. However, none of those three posed a real threat to defeat the Buffs. Not even Colorado State, a team that took down fellow PAC-12 member Oregon State by a score of 58-27.

This is the first time that Washington and Colorado have faced either since the PAC-12 Championship Game one season ago. That one resulted in a blowout victory for the Huskies. One of the biggest differences this time around is the quarterback matchup. There’s no Sefo Liufau behind center anymore for the Buffs. Most of their starters from last season do return, though. They’ll need all the help they can get in this one.

Even on the road, the Huskies enter this contest as a 12-point favorite. It’s the first time in two weeks that UW has played on the road. The first time did not go so well for them as Rutgers held tough for most of the game. However, the Huskies have taken off in their last two games against Fresno State and Montana.

Now, let’s take a look at five reasons the Washington Huskies will defeat the Colorado Buffaloes in Week 4.
