Florida Football: 3 takeaways from nail-biting win over Kentucky
2. Kentucky’s season isn’t over
When you think of Kentucky, I am willing to bet you aren’t thinking about football. This is and has been a basketball school for many years, and for good reason, but don’t discount their game on the gridiron. Kentucky showed something that could lead to a great season.
The Wildcats of Kentucky have fight. Big Blue Nation got their hearts broken tonight but tonight doesn’t define this Kentucky team. With the fight in this team, the fans of BBN might be in for a fun run in the SEC.

Led by senior quarterback Stephen Johnson, the Wildcats showed they can make a good defense pay quickly. Johnson threw 17-of-25 for 196 yards and 3 touchdowns against a really good Gator defense.
The receiving core that Johnson has to work with showed they are serious weapons for Kentucky tonight. Garret Johnson and company provide deep threat attack but can also extend plays after the catch extremely well.
It hurt to watch for Kentucky fans. Tonight would have been the first time they beat Florida since 1986. The Wildcats also hadn’t led the Gators after the 1st quarter since 2003 but records are meant to be broken.
As heartbreaking as it was to be so close only to fall short don’t feel like Kentucky is done. Once the disappointment from tonight fades, Wildcat fans can get behind a football team that is ready for a fight their way to a great season.
