Florida Football: 3 takeaways from nail-biting win over Kentucky
1. Florida needs the offense to step up
As the media picks this game apart throughout the week, I can assure you that one talking point will rule the conversation. Florida’s offense has got to be better.
The Gators have to find some type of consistency or their luck might run out in these close wins. Florida went scoreless in the first and third quarters of tonight’s game. If they are going to beat higher caliber teams, they will have to figure out a way to start moving the ball effectively.
The passing game is what I’m looking at as the main culprit and so are many of you. It starts with the offensive line and providing better protection. I will give Kentucky credit for what they did defensively but Florida still underperformed in the trenches.
After the half, quarterback Feleipe Franks was taken out of the game after the Gators first two drives ended in punts. Luke Del Rio stepped in and then threw an interception on his first drive but would end up leading the offense for the rest of the game.

The quarterback situation tonight was an accurate representation of the offense as a whole. It was inconsistent and will have to figure this out or it could mean trouble later on. Once they do get the kinks worked out, however, Florida is going to start not only winning but winning big.
