2. The Cardinal QB carousel may have stopped on KJ Costello

After going through quarterbacks Ryan Burns and Keller Chryst, with the latter being injured with what appeared to be a concussion, head coach David Shaw turned to sophomore KJ Costello.

Costello did not disappoint. In the second quarter, he had a real tough 9-yard touchdown run where he was roughed up powering into the endzone. In the third quarter he would throw his first touchdown pass, a beautiful 15 yard reception by receiver Trenton Irwin in between two defenders.

Costello would eventually finish the night 13-for-19, throwing for 123 yards and two touchdown passes to go along with his touchdown run. He was fairly accurate all night and you could see him gaining confidence as the game went along.

Last week against San Diego State, Stanford passed for 80 yards total. Now with Costello at the helm, Stanford may have a passing attack to compliment their potent rushing attack. If they can be more balanced, it will certainly help moving forward.
