Texas A&M football edged the Arkansas Razorbacks in their first SEC game of the season. How did each position group grade out in the victory?
Every game between the Aggies and the Razorbacks is fun. Explosive plays were traded back and forth between the offense, defense and special teams of both teams on Saturday. When the game came to a close it was the Aggies who moved to 1-0 in SEC play while the Razorbacks started their conference slate with a loss, again.
Kellen Mond was impressive, shaking off freshman jitters and calmly leading the Aggie offense down the field time and time again. He matched every touchdown drive orchestrated by Arkansas’ quarterback Austin Allen well into the fourth quarter.
The Texas A&M defense wasn’t exactly up to the Wrecking Crew standards, but they did step up to the plate when the game was on the line. Bend but don’t break is the mantra that this team will look to abide by going forward. That’s going to mean some ugly box scores from time to time, but they won’t care if the final result is a win.
So, after the euphoria and anxiety has worn off, it’s time to take make an honest evaluation of how each position group played for all four quarters and overtime. From A+ to F, where did each unit grade out on Saturday.
