Miami Football: 5 players who earned game balls vs. Toledo
The junior running back picked right off where he left off after Week 1 and finished the game with yards and touchdowns Miami had 141 yards rushing in the first quarter alone.
In that first quarter Walton stuck his foot in the ground and took this handoff to the house, getting Miami on the board early with an electric touchdown run.
Walton is clearly the leader of the Hurricanes offense and with performances like this he should be getting more national recognition. Miami has a lot of talent on offense and if they can get a great year from Walton they should be in the mix for an ACC title game bid. He left the game about half way through the second quarter after having his foot stepped on. When he left the game he had six carries for 137 yards and the touchdown.
He came back late in the third quarter and went right back to work. Walton was averaging around 20 yards per carry in the game and had 10 carries for 199 yards and was about to be taken out of the game. He pleaded with Coach Mark Richt to get back in the game to make 200, at first Richt hesitated by eventually conceded to his star back. Walton got the ball on the next play and picked up four yards up the middle and was immediately pulled from the game. Another performance like this should get Walton more national publicity and perhaps even some Heisman buzz.
