1. Brian Kelly’s job is completely safe

Going into the game, there was chatter about Brian Kelly’s seat potentially warming up even more with a loss against the Spartans. If he couldn’t pull off the road win over Michigan State, he’d likely be out of a job sooner rather than later.

Well, he marched into East Lansing and pulled out a 20-point win over the Spartans as the Fighting Irish looked like the real deal, for the most part.

However, saying his job is completely safe is false. There are some fans who believe he distanced himself from the hot seat talk all together. Wrong.

The truth of the matter is this: Kelly should have gone into Michigan State and come out with a win. He did what was expected with a much more veteran team compared to the young Spartans. That’s not to say this wasn’t impressive since a win on the road at Spartan Stadium in prime time doesn’t ever come easy.

Kelly is still going to need to finish with 8-9 wins to have his job secured for next season. His team proved it can win on the road, but is it an eight-win squad?
