Texas A&M Football: 5 Aggies who earned game balls vs. Arkansas
By Shelbie Warr
These two have become the dynamic duo of the Aggie defense so far this season. I couldn’t bear to leave one off of the list, so they will share the honor of my final helmet sticker. Let’s break them down individually.
Senior safety Armani Watts has been the talk of the town since he announced his return for his senior season. If anything, he earns a helmet sticker for this game specifically for this game ending interception. He dove for the ball and made the play the Aggies needed to win the game, for the second time since the officials took away Kellen Mond’s go ahead score.
Watts’ is currently the only FBS player with five tackles for loss, three interceptions, a forced fumble and a recovered fumble so far this season. He is also the only one with 275 career tackles, nine interceptions and five forced fumbles. He’s truly the guy the Aggies need to really get going down the stretch.
Also shown, but not as talked about in the video above is the tackle that sophomore linebacker Tyrel Dodson made in the end zone that really opened the window for Watts’ to make the uncontested pick. He also stopped to talk to the Arkansas receiver after the game was sealed instead of jumping up to celebrate with his friends and teammates. That sportsmanship earns a sticker in my book every time.
Dodson finished the game with five total tackles, one for loss and a sack of Austin Allen. Between the two of them, the Aggie defense had a decently strong showing on Saturday and that earned them each a share of last helmet sticker.
