Virginia Tech football: 5 players who earned game balls vs. Old Dominion
The Virginia Tech Hokies offensive line is another unit that had a positive week for the offense. They dominated the line of scrimmage for the second-straight game and for the third time in four games, helped the offense rush for over 200 yards.
Center Eric Gallo, guards Wyatt Teller and Kyle Chung and tackles Yosuah Nijman and Braxton Pfaff deserve a lot of credit for what the Virginia Tech offense has done. Chung and Pfaff are first-year starters on the line.
The Hokies ran for 271 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns against the Old Dominion Monarchs, a team that had 13 sacks entering Week 4. They finished the game with just one sack.
The offense ran 89 plays for 589 total yards of offense while the defense allowed the Monarchs to run 50 plays and allowed 149 total yards of offense.
They face tough Tigers defensive line this Saturday so it’s important that the offensive line is sharp entering the game. Clemson’s defense has allowed 92.5 rushing yards and 227.0 total yards per game through Week 4.
It was another good way to finish the week as the Hokies approach their ACC opener against second-ranked Clemson. They have now scored 95 straight points since trailing 17-7 to the East Carolina Pirates.
Virginia Tech is averaging 507.3 yards on offense, a lot more than their 445.7 yards per game average from a season ago.
