A big boost was given to the Washington football program since they dominated the Colorado Buffaloes in Week 4, beating them by a 27-point margin.
The Washington Huskies came out of the gates this season very slow with a 30-14 win over the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. Yet, since then, they’ve completely taken off. They handled the Montana Grizzlies and Fresno State Bulldogs in their next two contests to get back on track for what we expected out of the Huskies this year.
Alongside the USC Trojans, the Huskies are the favorite to win the PAC-12. We will see how good USC actually is when they face the No. 16 ranked Washington State Cougars in Week 5. USC is ranked just one spot ahead of Washington at No. 5.
In Week 5, the Huskies need to keep improving against an inferior opponent in the Oregon State Beavers. This Oregon State team lost to the Colorado State Rams 58-27. Moreover, Colorado State lost to the Colorado Buffaloes by a 14-point margin. If you do the math after UW’s 37-10 victory over the Buffs, this should be a blowout against Oregon State.
Not only was the win over Colorado a thoroughly impressive feat for the Huskies, it proved that they are still among the best teams in the conference, if not the best. USC has struggled to put away teams not as talented as them, including the Texas Longhorns and Cal Golden Bears. It will be interesting to see what happens if USC and Washington both win out and play each other in the PAC-12 Championship Game.

Junior running back Myles Gaskin picked up the pace for junior quarterback Jake Browning against the Buffs. Gaskin rushed for more than 200 yards and two touchdowns. Meanwhile, Browning tossed just one touchdown with one interception. The emergence of Gaskin could be huge for the Huskies moving forward. This is starting to look like the best team in the PAC-12 like they were last year.
