3. Too much pressure on Denzel Mims

With the departure of K.D. Cannon and Ish Zamora in the receiving corps, the Bears were already left searching for answers to replace those guys. Denzel Mims and Chris Platt had done a great job stepping up and leading the way through the first four games of the year.

Yet, Mims will be left on an island now without Baylor’s second leading receiver lining up across from him. So far, Mims has 18 catches for 406 yards and six touchdowns. Platt had just five less receiving yards than Mims and one less touchdown.

The amount that head coach Matt Rhule is going to have to rely on Mims now without Platt might be too much to handle for a young receiver. And, Platt was a deep threat for Baylor and could take the top off opposing defenses. Losing him takes away a dimension from this offense.

For a team still left searching for their first win of the season, this horrible news will make things even worse. The Big 12 has seven teams that could all be bowl eligible by the end of the regular season. Mims cannot take all this pressure solely on his shoulders.
