Ohio State Football: 3 bold predictions vs. Rutgers in Week 5
By Jesse Smith
Ohio State football will travel to Rutgers for a Big Ten night game, the Buckeyes’ second this year, on Saturday.
Last week Ohio State football handled business against UNLV in Columbus, Ohio. On Saturday, Sept. 30, the Buckeyesthey will head to Piscataway, N.J., to face Rutgers for a Big Ten battle.
Here are three bold predictions for the Buckeyes’ second conference night game of the year.
3. J.T. Barrett will remain hot
J.T. Barrett played less than a half of football against UNLV last week and torched them for 209 yards on 12 of 17 passing and 5 touchdowns. He also ran for 15 yards on 5 carries, the good thing is Barrett didn’t run as much last week. Barrett threw touchdowns the distance of 69, 16, 3, 4 and 11 yards. With all of the Dwayne Haskins talk this was good for the offense to explode like this. Haskins and Joe Borrow got to toss the rock around on Saturday so make sure you keep tabs on that nugget of information.
Rutgers has former Ohio State co-defensive coordinator Chris Ash running the show, so he will have his players ready to play defense, but it won’t be enough against the high powered (against mid-tiered teams) offense. Rutgers only allowed 306 total yards to Nebraska and they kept Tanner Lee to 106 yards passing.
I’m saying Barrett will go for at least 250 yards and 3 touchdowns on Saturday, if they get to a hot start those numbers may be higher or the backups will get to play.
