Last week, Oregon tumbled hard against Arizona State. California played USC tough for three quarters before falling to the Trojans. Both teams will be motivated to get back on track and back into the Pac-12 North hunt in the first divisional showdown for each team.

California has traditionally made life difficult for the Ducks when they meet. Even with the game at Autzen Stadium this year, history indicates that this is no sure things for Oregon. The 2007 meeting comes immediately to mind, when a late Cameron Colvin fumble forward into the endzone was erroneously awarded as a touchback for Cal rather than being placed back at the spot of the fumble.

Luck is always a critical ingredient when road teams pull off upsets, and this time it will be no different. Ross Bowers, the young Cal quarterback, could have a field day with the Oregon secondary if he gets into a rhythm. The UO defense has been anything but stingy, even as they won the first three games of the season.

As a 13.5-point underdog, the Golden Bears will need to play a clean, turnover-free and penalty-light game in order to stay in this contest. The Ducks can score at will, but the spread seems a bit high for two 3-1 teams. If they get too cocky, Oregon could find themselves on upset alert on their home turf.
