After defeating Iowa in Week 4, Penn State football returns to Happy Valley to face off against Indiana. Here are three bold predictions for Week 5.

It’s hard to believe that a third of the 2017 season has already been played.

As the weather gets cooler, the College Football Playoff picture is slowly beginning to come into focus, and after defeating Iowa 21-19 on a walk-off touchdown at the end of regulation, the Penn State Nittany Lions remain firmly in the running to make their playoff debut.

But in Week 5, the Nittany Lions will face off against a new challenge in the form of the Indiana Hoosiers.

Unlike the team’s first four opponents of the season, Indiana boasts a flashy passing offense, currently ranked 45th in the nation, and has been able to score an average of 35 points per game in their first three games.

James Franklin’s squad has already shown that they have what it takes to stop a power run game, but in Week 5, the Nittany Lions’ secondary, led by senior defensive backs Grant Haley and Marcus Allen, will have to show up in their first true aerial challenge of the season.

This game also holds significance for the program as a whole, because for the first time in the program’s history, Penn State will be wearing throwback jerseys to celebrate “Generations of Greatness”.

After remaining firmly committed to “Black Shoes. Basic Blues. No Names. All Game.” philosophy for decades, the Lions are now finally joining seemingly every other team in college football in their combat uniform trend, albeit with a fairly inoffensive variant.

Here are three bold predictions to watch for in Penn State’s Week 5 game against Indiana.
