If Texas A&M football can get a win against South Carolina in Week 5, it could pose a real threat to some of the top teams in the SEC West.

Few teams got off to a rougher start than when the Texas A&M Aggies gave up a 35-point run to the UCLA Bruins in their season opener. However, since then, the Aggies have rattled off three straight victories.

They’ve really looked much better since the win over Nicholls State out of the FCS. Texas A&M seemed to have a bit of a hangover from the UCLA loss when they faced Nicholls State. Things finally started to take shape in a more positive fashion when the Aggies went on a 31-point run in the second half to defeat Louisiana-Lafayette.

Texas A&M had its conference opener last week against the Arkansas Razorbacks, which was one of the most entertaining finishes of Week 4. Arkansas carried a four-point lead into the fourth quarter, which would eventually be evened up by the Aggies. An overtime win kept the Aggies in contention in the SEC West, and might have put the Hogs in the basement of the division standings.

There’s another big SEC test waiting for the Aggies in Week 5 as they take on the South Carolina Gamecocks. It’s one of two cross-conference games the Aggies have on tap over the next three weeks (the other being a road trip to Gainesville to face the Florida Gators).

However, the largest challenge of the season is on Oct. 7 as Texas A&M hosts the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide at Kyle Field, in College Station, TX. The last time they defeated the Tide was under Johnny Manziel in 2012.

Now, let’s take a look at five reasons the Texas A&M Aggies have turned things around.
