5. David Williams, Chase Hayden are hitting their stride

Entering the season, sophomore running back Devwah Whaley was supposed to be the starter. However, Whaley’s struggles gave true freshman and senior transfer running backs Chase Hayden and David Williams an opportunity to shine.

Hayden led the team in rushing last week with 77 yards on 13 carries and one touchdown. Besides the TCU game, where Hayden was held to limited playing time, he has looked great this year. That includes a 120-yard effort against Florida A&M.

Meanwhile, Williams led the Hogs in rushing touchdowns with two on 11 carries. He also ran for 68 yards in the game. Williams gives Arkansas the versatility to have a running back that can block, catch passes, and pose a threat on the ground.

If Whaley can find his way, this Arkansas stable of running backs will be absolutely lethal. The Hogs are a run first offense, even under the senior leadership of Austin Allen. Arkansas is at its best when the ground game is thriving.
