After blasting UNLV in week 4, Ohio State football must now prepare for Rutgers. Here are three bold predictions for the Buckeyes’ Week 5 tilt.

It just doesn’t seem like Urban Meyer Squad can do anything right in the eyes of the AP poll.

After losing a heart-breaker to Oklahoma in Week 2, the Buckeyes have consistently dropped in the AP poll over the two subsequent weeks even after blowing out their Week 3 opponent Army and Week 4 opponent UNLV in impressive fashion.

Without another game against a ranked opponent until their Week 9 game against No. 4 ranked Penn State, the Buckeyes will be forced to continue to blowout lesser opponents without much outward praise. That trend that will surely continue in Week 5 as the team prepares to face off against a 1-3 Rutgers squad.

After fielding a 2-10 team last season, the Rutgers Scarlet Knights hired former Minnesota head coach Jerry Kill to overhaul the team’s 128th ranked offense. He has been tasked with giving the Scarlet Knights an identity that they’ve been sorely lacking since they joined the Big Ten in 2014. So far, the results have been encouraging.

Even though the team hasn’t found ways to win games so far this season, they are putting together a solid outings, with a time hogging, power spread offense to pair with their much improved 24th ranked defense.

While it’s unclear if Rutgers will ever become a serious contender for the Big Ten East title in a similar way to how Penn State, Michigan and Ohio State are year in and year out, it’s abundantly clear that the program’s resurgence will not come in their Week 5 bout against No. 11 Ohio State.
