Ole Miss football has its toughest opponent, by far, of the season on tap this weekend as it travels to Tuscaloosa to face Alabama.

The No. 1 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide enter their second SEC matchup of the season favored by 28-points over the Ole Miss Rebels. Even though Ole Miss has defeated Alabama two of the last three season, this is a much different Rebels squad than we’ve seen in year’s past.

If Ole Miss was able to take down Alabama, it would likely hurt the SEC’s chances of getting into the College Football Playoff since the Rebels are not eligible to go to a bowl game this season. There’s just not the same magnitude for this Ole Miss-Alabama matchup as there’s been over the past few seasons, and for good reason.

Last week, the Tide dominated the Vanderbilt Commodores in one of the most lopsided games of the 2017 college football season. Vandy came into the contest confident after they took down the Kansas State Wildcats at home. However, Bama crushed any confidence that was built up for the Commodores in a 59-0 whopping.

Moreover, Ole Miss had the week off after they lost their first game in Week 3. Cal pulled away in the second half against the Rebels, resulting in a 27-16 loss for Ole Miss. It was not the first time that the Golden Bears defeated a quality Power Five opponent in non-conference play. They also defeated the North Carolina Tar Heels on the road earlier in the year.

Here are three bold predictions for the Rebels’ Week 5 matchup with Alabama.
