College Football: Week 5 announcer pairings
By Tim Kaiser
Here are the announcer pairings for the best, biggest, and most anticipated games of the fifth week of the college football season.
There are just a pair of games this week in which the top announcer pairings will be broadcasting two ranked teams. No. 2 Clemson at No. 12 Virginia Tech is the matchup that ESPN anointed with GameDay and their top broadcast team of Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit, and Maria Taylor. No. 24 Mississipi State at No. 13 Auburn is the other ranked game. It kicks off in the evening slot on ESPN with Dave Flemming on the play-by-play.
CBS is hoping for a game much more like Tennessee’s last time on the broadcast in Week 3 than last weekend’s Alabama slaughter of Vanderbilt. Georgia comes into Knoxville as the seventh-ranked team in the country and 8.5-point favorites.
Gus Johnson might lose his voice by halftime of his Saturday assignment. FOX has what will definitely be the shootout of the weekend. No. 15 Oklahoma State looks to rebound against Texas Tech. The 84-point total is easily the highest of the week.
In #Pac12AfterDark news, ESPN’s Mark Jones and Rod Gilmore get Colorado and UCLA, while Brian Custer, Ben Leber and Kristen Balboni call Cal and Oregon on FS1.
