1. Football takes pressure off the basketball program

What a whirlwind of a week it’s been for Louisville. The basketball program was involved in a major scandal that revealed Rick Pitino was guilty of funneling upwards of $100K to a recruit which led to his departure. He has been placed on administrative leave, but everyone knows that it’s like the program moves on.

Louisville fans have been desperately looking for good news, but who would have though it would come from the football team? This is considered a “basketball school” for a reason, but the football team, outside of a loss to Clemson, has been playing exceptionally well this season.

The Cardinals are dominating lesser opponents on the gridiron and despite a loss to Clemson in the first few weeks of the season, the Cardinals are 4-1 and ranked No. 17 in the country. This should only improve come the release of the Week 6 AP poll.

The success of the football team, even against Murray State, should take some of the pressure off the basketball program. No longer will fans be chanting “wait until football season”.
