LSU football is not having its best game against the Troy Trojans as they’re officially put on upset alert at halftime at Tiger Stadium.
The No. 25 LSU Tigers have struggled mightily since the loss to the Mississippi State Bulldogs. In Week 5, they take on the Troy Trojans from the Sun Belt. While Troy is a solid Group of Five team, they should not be able to hang with LSU.
Troy is up on the Tigers 10-0 at halftime. This is the second time in three weeks that the Tigers have been held to single-digit points in the first half. The absence of superstar running back Derrius Guice is definitely hurting the LSU offense.
Senior running back Darrel Williams is playing well in his place with 50 rushing yards on 11 carries. However, no big plays have come from the LSU offense yet. It allows the Troy defense to creep up and load the box on nearly every play.
LSU quarterback Danny Etling completed seven of his 11 passing attempts in the first half for just 61 yards. The longest play of the first half came from a 27-yard pass from Etling to wide receiver D.J. Chark. Tory Carter is the only LSU offensive player with more than one catch.
Troy senior quarterback Brandon Silvers led a big touchdown drive in the first quarter and the Trojans tacked on a field goal in the second. Starting running back Jordan Chunn is having himself a good game as well.

LSU needs a big play on the ground game to ignite some type of spark in the second half. If they’re not able to put up points and the defense keeps struggling, this could wind up being the second loss of the season for the Tigers.
