Clemson Football: 3 takeaways from win over Virginia Tech
Clemson football claimed its third victory of the season over a top 25 opponent with a win against the Virginia Tech Hokies on the road.
The No. 2 Clemson Tigers had yet another tough test in the ACC just two weeks after they took down the Louisville Cardinals. This week, head coach Dabo Swinney and the Tigers faced the No. 12 ranked Virginia Tech Hokies, at Lane Stadium in Blacksburg, VA. Arguably, this was the biggest test that Clemson had to face all season with the type of atmosphere that Virginia Tech has at home.
Clemson is looking like they should still be the favorite to win the National Championship, even without legendary quarterback Deshaun Watson leading the way on offense. Junior quarterback Kelly Bryant has done well taking over for Watson behind center.
Virginia Tech was never really competitive in this one, and did not win even one individual quarter until the fourth. Clemson carried a 17-3 lead into halftime and did not look back in the second half. Running backs Tavien Feaster and C.J. Fuller each played a limited role but each did get in the end zone once.
The Clemson receivers did not have much of a chance to do anything as the leading receiver was actually Feaster. He finished with 63 receiving yards and one touchdown. Wide receiver Deon Cain was second in receiving yards with 55 on two catches.
Now, let’s take a look at three takeaways from Clemson’s win over Virginia Tech in Week 5.
