LSU football has had its ups and downs over the past few seasons, but a loss to Troy leaves this team at an all-time low. All eyes are now on head coach Ed Orgeron.

It was around this time last year that athletic director Joe Alleva announced the termination of the beloved Tiger head coach, Les Miles. Despite sentimentalists calling for just one more chance on Miles’ behalf, it was clear that the team was in need of a change. While a new direction was taken, the hiring of Ed Orgeron left fans wondering just how drastic the change would be.

Miles left the program with the highest winning percentage in LSU history (.770), forever etching his name in the memories of fans and players alike. However, when a 2-2 start was followed by a 6-2 finish from interim head coach Orgeron, all was forgotten. The Miles era was over, and the Orgeron era had just begun.

Fast forward a year and LSU fans are already calling for a Les Miles revival. As much as one would imagine coach Les wishes only the best for his former players, the ‘I told you so’ mindset might just be creeping up in the back of his mind.

With hindsight certainly being 20/20, here are three reasons Alleva was best off looking elsewhere in search of LSU’s next head coach.
