Loser: Mississippi State Bulldogs (No. 24 to unranked)

The Mississippi State Bulldogs have hit a rough patch in the schedule, losing their last two games in SEC play. The LSU Tigers weren’t the only team who had a poor outing in Week 5.

The Bulldogs managed to score just 10 points in Week 5 against the Auburn Tigers in the 49-10 loss. Quarterback Nick Fitzgerald was held scoreless on the ground once again as he had just 56 rushing yards in the game. Fitzgerald was 13-for-33 passing with 157 passing yards, a passing touchdowns and two interceptions in the game.

The Auburn Tigers were a stifling bunch as they held the Bulldogs below 200 rushing yards and zero rushing touchdowns. Running back Kerryon Johnson ran for 116 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns on the offensive side for Auburn.

The Bulldogs defense gave up over 500 yards, including over 200 rushing yards for the second-straight week. If the defense can’t stop anybody, it makes things extra-hard for Fitzgerald and company on offense and that trend is beginning to show itself.

Next up for the Bulldogs is one more nonconference game against another struggling squad, the BYU Cougars.
