1. The Tigers will be No. 1 by the end of October

This one is assuming that Alabama struggles with somebody over the course of the next four weeks, maybe even dropping a contest.

Clemson will be heavy favorites in all three of its games and the Tigers should be able to stockpile points to impress the voters. The defense continues to put the hammer down week in and week out, and the offense has been a big-play unit to match them each game.

Last year, it wasn’t that much of a surprise that Clemson hung around the top of the polls after advancing to the national title game and falling to the Crimson Tide. Deshaun Watson was back. Wayne Gallman was back. Mike Williams returned.

But not many were sold on the Tigers entering this year.

Dabo Swinney has put together a roster that can match one through 53 with anybody out there in the nation. Clemson has skill at the skill positions, speed at the speed positions and depth along the lines.

To say that the Tigers have reached the equal of what Nick Saban has accomplished at Alabama would be a mistake. But they continue to push forward and are inching closer and closer to making it a 1A and 1A atop the nation.
