Honorable Mention: Butch Jones

As expected, Tennessee head coach Butch Jones makes the list and the only reason I have him as an honorable mention is because Tennessee doesn’t play this week. After this week, you can expect to see Jones headlining our next hot seat take. Jones might as well consider himself a lock to be in the weekly hot seat list as his seat is absolutely blistering hot.

Tennessee didn’t just lose to their rival this past week, but they were obliterated by Georgia in front of their fans at home 41-0. This is also just a week after the team escaped with a close win against UMass, and just two weeks after a loss to Florida which ended with a crucial coaching error after there weren’t enough defensive backs on the field.

These last three weeks have been detrimental towards the future for Butch Jones at Tennessee. We probably wouldn’t even be discussing this if Tennessee wasn’t able to pull off the miracle wins the team did a year ago. It looks like the fans have officially jumped off the Butch Jones bandwagon in Knoxville and time is fading away for Jones.

If there is any hope left for Butch Jones in Tennessee, he is going to have to win, and he is going to have to win now. With a bye week, Tennessee and Butch Jones will need to make changes. If the Volunteers look bad in front of their hometown crowd yet again, Butch Jones might not have to listen to the crowd’s boo’s for much longer. If I had to pick the first coach who I think will be axed before the end of the season, Butch Jones would be the only option.
