Louisville football is gearing up for a big primetime matchup against NC State on Thursday night.

To keep their hopes of a spot in the ACC Championship Game alive, Louisville football will have to solve NC State this Thursday. The Cardinals can ill-afford to drop a second league divisional game and the Wolfpack need a win to remain in a tie atop the standings with Clemson.

The contest will receive the bright lights of prime-time Thursday night, which should play into the hands of reigning Heisman winner Lamar Jackson just nicely. After suffering a 47-21 setback to the Tigers in Week 3, the Cards will need help if they hope to reach the championship game in December.

NC State, meanwhile, has won four in a row, including two by eight points or less, since a season-opening defeat to South Carolina. That streak is highlighted by back-to-back league wins over Florida State and Syracuse.

Last year, Jackson and Louisville jumped all over the Wolfpack, claiming a convincing 54-13 victory just a week after NC State had pushed eventual national champion Clemson into overtime only to come up short. In that game, Jackson scored four times in the opening 30 minutes.

Still, nothing can be taken for granted, so here are three bold predictions for Louisville vs. NC State this Thursday night.
