To say that Oklahoma football has owned Iowa State would be a drastic understatement. The Sooners have won 18 consecutive meetings with the Cyclones, and will look to make it 19 this Saturday when they square off in Norman.
For Oklahoma and first-year head coach Lincoln Riley, this contest should serve as nothing more than another chance to impress the voters and remain on the heels of Alabama and Clemson for the top spot when the playoff rankings are released in a few weeks.
Riley has stepped right in since replacing Bob Stoops prior to the start of this season. Of course, when you have Heisman candidate Baker Mayfield, a surplus of talented running backs and receivers, it is easy to see why.
Issues remain on the defensive side of the ball for the Sooners, but likely not enough to keep Oklahoma from winning its 17th straight league contest and 14th overall dating back to last season.
