The defending Pac-12 South champions are now 3-2 on the season, after back-to-back losses against Washington and UCLA. Colorado returns home this week desperately needing to stop its losing streak to have any hope of remaining in the division race. This week, the Buffaloes face an Arizona team desperate to get a statement win of its own.

Starting quarterback Steven Montez has increasingly faced pressure as the protection breaks down around him. Colorado is giving up nearly three sacks per game, and they currently sit 104th in the FBS in terms of sacks allowed. The Buffaloes have already had six passes intercepted as well, with Montez sometimes forced to throw when the play just isn’t there.

The defense has held up its end of the bargain, holding opponents around 18 points per game. But that defense has betrayed the Buffaloes in their two losses, with both the Huskies and the Bruins managing to take charge against the division champs.

This week, a 2-2 Arizona team heads to Folsom Field hoping to generate a statement win over a genuinely strong team. Rich Rodriguez continues to coach to ensure he remains in Tucson after 2016, and the Wildcats are on track for a possible bowl berth. Colorado will need to watch out for their divisional rival if they hope to avoid the upset as seven-point favorites at home.
